The Institute for Women's Leadership (IWL), created by the eminent former dean of Douglass College, Mary S. Hartman,〔()〕 is a "consortium of teaching, research and public service units" operating in close association with the Douglass Campus of Rutgers University. The Institute is composed of nine consortium members: Douglass Residential College, the Department of Women's and Gender Studies, the Center for American Women and Politics, the Institute for Research on Women, the Institute for Women & Art, the Center for Women's Global Leadership, and the Center for Women and Work.〔(The Institute for Women's Leadership )〕 The Institute focuses on women's leadership issues on local, national and international scales. As a complementary function to its research and activist goals, it provides a rich networking environment and supports its members career development.〔()〕 == Programs == To the aforementioned ends, IWL organizes numerous programs and events:〔()〕 * Leadership Scholars Certificate Program - A two-year program for undergraduate women interested in becoming socially responsible leaders. Mary K.
