Institute for Women's Leadership
The Institute for Women's Leadership (IWL), created by the eminent former dean of Douglass College, Mary S. Hartman,〔()〕 is a "consortium of teaching, research and public service units" operating in close association with the Douglass Campus of Rutgers University.
The Institute is composed of nine consortium members: Douglass Residential College, the Department of Women's and Gender Studies, the Center for American Women and Politics, the Institute for Research on Women, the Institute for Women & Art, the Center for Women's Global Leadership, and the Center for Women and Work.〔(The Institute for Women's Leadership )〕 The Institute focuses on women's leadership issues on local, national and international scales. As a complementary function to its research and activist goals, it provides a rich networking environment and supports its members career development.〔()〕
== Programs ==

To the aforementioned ends, IWL organizes numerous programs and events:〔()〕
* Leadership Scholars Certificate Program - A two-year program for undergraduate women interested in becoming socially responsible leaders. Mary K. Trigg is the Director.
* Senior Leadership Program for Professional Women - An intensive workshop series for working women.
* High School Leadership Certificate Program - A leadership development program for high school young women in Jersey City, New Jersey, that runs during each spring semester.
* Community Leadership, Action and Service Project (CLASP) - A five-week internship with a New Brunswick organization and a weekly interactive seminar.
* Crystal-Barkley's Life\Work Design Program - A five-day seminar to prepare women leaders interested in using their skills to make social change to develop goals towards taking the next significant steps in their lives.
* Ready to Run - A one-day conference program designed to encourage potential women candidates in New Jersey to run for public office.
* Annual Interdisciplinary Faculty and Graduate Research Seminar - A weekly thematic seminar for researchers who want to share perspectives on women's roles.
* National Dialogue on Educating Women for Leadership - A national, continuing conversation among educators, scholars and experts that explores a range of women's leadership issues, programs and research.
* Visiting Scholars Opportunities - Programs sponsored by the institute and consortium members for guest scholars, researchers and others to visit Rutgers.
* Policy and Leadership Courses - Relevant courses for undergraduates interested in women's leadership.
